Adoption Support Services for Children

At Core Children’s Services, we encourage birth children to maintain family contact for children wherever it’s appropriate in the adoption process. We understand that by minimising the disruption to the life of a child or young person who has been or is in the process of being adopted, we can help to support them as they adjust to a different lifestyle. Ultimately, this lends support to establishing a stable placement with a successful outcome.

Core Children’s Services provide neutral venues for birth families to spend time together, and can arrange for direct or indirect contact as necessary. By working together, we can minimise any potential negative effects of adoption upon a young person’s development and behaviour. We believe in emphasising the positives throughout all aspects of our integrated range of children’s services.

Emotional support for adopted children

When working closely with children and young people who are going through the adoption process, it is vitally important to pay close attention to their emotional wellbeing and ensure that they receive all the support they need. With this in mind, Core Children’s Services provides highly qualified professionals with a strong background of expertise to offer all adopted young people therapeutic support services, as well as counselling and group support to help deal with loss, separation and the resolution of the past.

Life Story Work

For children and young people who experienced adoption at any age in their development, it can be difficult to develop a strong sense of identity. To combat these and any other potential issues, Core Children’s Services has developed its Life Story Work. Through this method of recording the positive experiences in a child’s life, we help them to recall the good times and the people who have supported them along the way. Life Story Work is designed to encourage healthy development and a more positive attitude to past experiences.
