Education Services for Children

Core Children’s Services has extensive experience in providing education services for children and young people as part of our integrated packages of care.

Core Children's Services can provide:

  • Support in ensuring access to education
  • Personalised tutoring
  • Education Support Programmes
  • Alternative education provision
  • Early interventions

We know that young people who experience personal difficulties at home can quickly lose interest in school. We also know that for children and young people who are struggling with poor progress or attainment and bullying, the thought of attending school can be daunting.

The team at Core Children’s Services delivers education services that improve outcomes for vulnerable children and young people. In partnership with organisations, families and the young people themselves, we can work together to improve outcomes in relation to attendance, behaviour and attainment.

Read more about each of our education services under each of the headings below.

Ensuring educational provision

For children and young people who need to find a new school or access an alternative educational provision, we can help you to negotiate your way through the legislation to establish an appropriate educational provision.

Personalised tutoring

For children and young people requiring one to one tuition to enable them to make progress and/or prepare for examinations.

Education support programmes

Core Children’s Services provides innovative education programmes for children and young people who have a range of complex needs that make their placement within mainstream provision difficult and challenging. They may be disengaged from learning, at risk of exclusion or excluded from school.

  • Range of ‘in school’ and ‘off site’ support tailored to meet individual needs
  • Personalised tutoring for those children and young people who need individual support to meet their potential
  • Education support for children and young people for whom English is an additional language
  • Personal Education Allowance interventions for Looked After Children
  • Mentoring
  • Group interventions (social skills and personal development)
  • Transition workshops (primary to secondary and mid-year)

Alternative education provision

Core Children’s Services offer personalised programmes of alternative education provision to meet the needs of individual young people.

Young people can be referred to us for a wide range of reasons, including:

  • Poor attendance, sometimes persistently absent from school
  • Poor behaviour, sometimes leading to isolation or exclusion
  • Poor progress or attainment, sometimes due to disengagement from learning
  • Mental health issues
  • Special Educational Needs or disability
  • School age parenting

Early interventions

Core Children’s Services offers preventative measures to promote inclusion and support young people to reach their educational potential.
