Therapy Services for Children

Core Children’s Services employs therapists across the UK to support the therapeutic needs of children and young people as part of a range of integrated support services.

Core Children’s Services offers therapy services for children...

  • Whose families are undergoing separation or divorce
  • Who have been or are in the process of being adopted
  • Who are living in foster care
  • Who have been the victims of sexual or physical abuse
  • Who display difficult or complex behaviours
  • Who require specialist assessments as part of court proceedings

Our approach

We believe in offering creative and child centred ways of supporting the holistic needs of children who are experiencing difficulties.

During times of crisis or unhappiness, either by being separated from family or being the victims of abuse, many children and young people find it helpful to talk to an objective bystander, away from their birth parents, foster carers or adopted family.

Our qualified therapists can provide support at times of change or adjustment, helping children to express their thoughts and feelings and to make sense of a difficult situation and how it might affect their behaviour or development.

Find out more about our approach to supporting children through our Early Interventions and Adoption Support Services.

Therapy services from Core Children’s Services

Core Children’s Services therapists are fully qualified experts in a diverse range of therapeutic approaches, including but not limited to:

  • Systemic and family therapy
  • Psychodynamic therapy
  • Integrative therapy
  • Art and drama therapy
  • Play therapy
  • Clinical psychology

All therapy services provided by Core Children’s Services can be adapted to the unique needs of the child or young person. One-on-one therapy can be applied or group meetings and activities arranged as necessary. Therapists are able to use a wealth of frontline knowledge and experience to assess complex situations and make recommendations as to the most appropriate form of support.

Who can arrange for therapy to take place?

Therapy can be arranged by anyone with responsibility for a child or young person, including Local Authorities, Courts, fostering agencies and parents.

An initial meeting will take place between the therapist and the child and between the therapist and the responsible carer, parent or authority. A meeting will then be arranged for all involved parties to discuss a plan for the provision of therapeutic support.
