Services for Families of Disabled Children

The disability team at Core Children’s Services carries a wealth of experience in providing support services for families of disabled children and young people. This includes short break care.

At Core Children’s Services, we understand the day-to-day challenges and wider impact on the family of looking after a disabled child or young person. We appreciate how much time, effort and commitment it takes from parents and the wider family members. While we never ceased to be amazed at the outstanding job families do in bringing up their disabled child, we recognise that families sometimes need some support in this difficult task. We know that a little bit of support for families of disabled children can make the biggest difference.

For this reason, we have developed an established and reputable service for providing short break care for disabled children and young people.

Our expertise in providing wider disability services

With the ability to draw upon social workers’, teachers’, therapists’ and support workers’ expertise, we are able to offer flexible and bespoke packages of care to disabled children and their families.

Core Children’s Services Disability Team can also provide:

• Family support
• Home based care services (e.g. washing, feeding, dressing)
• Support to carers away from home on family holidays
• Independent life skills to assist in transition to adulthood
• Person centred individual care packages
• Day care, holidays and activities
• Palliative care
• Access to services via Direct Payments or Individualised Budgets
