Core Children’s Services is dedicated to supporting the therapeutic needs of parents and children going through difficult times or a family separation. We aim to work closely with birth families, foster families and adoptive families to support their holistic needs.
Separation, such a divorce or the adoption of a child, may be the result of years of difficulties or a sudden event. The decision may have been made by one or all members of the family, or by a Local Authority or Court order. Whatever the circumstances, any number of responses can occur in children and other family members, such as;

Core Children’s Services therapists are able to support families going through a separation by providing expert advice, encouraging the expression of thoughts and feelings, and thinking with parents and children about behavioural difficulties and how to overcome them. Children who are removed from their birth families and placed in foster care will often have experienced abuse, neglect or other forms of harmful behaviour. In some cases, these young people will go on to display difficult or inappropriate behaviour themselves as a way of dealing with past experiences.
At Core Children’s Services, we offer therapeutic support to foster carers and foster families to deal effectively with troubling behaviour, implement therapeutic parenting strategies and recognise and address attachment difficulties. Offering foster carers time to think, talk and reflect with a therapist ensures that their own anxieties and emotions are contained and don’t affect the stability of a placement.
