Post-adoption therapy services

With offices in over 80 locations across the UK, Core Children’s Services is in a unique position to offer post-adoption therapy services even where the child or young person is placed at a distance from their placing Local Authority.

Specialists in post-adoption therapy

Our therapists have a unique and specialised knowledge of the issues being faced by children and young people placed for adoption as well as those of the adopting family. Bespoke assessments ascertain the package of support necessary in order to ensure tailored interventions, that take into account the unique needs of the child or young person, are provided.

Core Children’s Services provides the following post-adoption therapy services:

• Therapeutic Life Story Work with children
• Consultation and/or therapy with the birth family
• Consultation and/or therapy with the adopting family
• Joint parent/child sessions to enable the processing of trauma and facilitating attachment to the adopted family

Consultation and networking for professionals

Core Children’s Services offer consultation and networking opportunities to enable professionals such as teachers, support workers and social workers to understand, more comprehensively, the needs of adopted children.

Our expert consultation provides an understanding of many of the difficulties faced by children who have been adopted, and how these difficulties can manifest in disruptive behaviour or complex needs post-adoption.

Networking events facilitated by Core Children’s Services bring together those professionals and family members involved with the adopted child or young person to ensure collaboration, understanding and a joint approach to managing difficulties.
