Specialist therapeutic assessments

Core Children’s Services provides trained therapists to undertake specialist therapeutic assessments of children and young people and their families as part of court proceedings.

Our specialist therapeutic assessments include:

• Assessing the risk to the child or young person
• Assessing the ability of the parent(s) to support a child’s needs
• Assessing the ability of family members or carers to support a child’s needs

Therapists also fulfil the role of addressing the holistic needs of the child or young person concerned. We help children to express their wishes and feelings in relation to issues of safety, residence and contact.
