Sexually Problematic Behaviours Service

At Core Children’s Services, we offer therapeutic training and consultation to professionals to help them understand and manage inappropriate sexual behaviours and the impact of sexual abuse. We also offer direct therapeutic interventions to children and young people, where required.

Additionally, we are able to provide AIM assessments in some areas, which focus on the capacity and motivation of the child or young person to achieve change with the help of a qualified social worker or therapist.

Direct work and therapeutic interventions

Therapists at Core Children’s Services have in-depth expertise, knowledge and experience at working with young people who engage or have engaged in sexually problematic behaviour. We are able to offer a range of direct interventions that can include some or all of the following:

  • Risk assessments for children with concerning or harmful behaviours
  • Family risk and resource assessments
  • Therapy for children with sexually harmful behaviours
  • Therapy for the victims of sexual abuse
  • Therapy for the families of children with sexual behaviours and/or a history of abuse

Training to address sexual behaviours

Core Children’s Services expert psychologists and psychotherapists offer relevant training and consultation to professionals, families and organisations across the UK to help them support young people who exhibit inappropriate sexual behaviours or have been the victims of sexual abuse.

Therapeutic training from Core Children’s Services can take place on a one-to-one basis or with groups of professionals. We offer a wide range of therapeutic training courses, including:

  • Identifying and responding to the risks and effects of sexual abuse
  • Internet safety training for parents and professionals
  • Training for foster carers and multi-agency groups on risk management
  • Training for frontline professionals on working with difficult behaviours

Consultation on sexual behaviours and sexual abuse

Our therapists are experienced in providing effective consultations to individuals with safeguarding responsibilities and professionals who come into contact with young people who exhibit sexually harmful or inappropriate behaviours.

  • Consultation tailored to the needs of your organisation
  • Consultation to manage difficult behaviours in young people
  • Consultation to parents/carers/families of sexual abuse victims
