We delivered targeted interventions for families that holistically met family’s needs and parenting support services that enabled parents to develop their skills and confidence in order to provide a safe, supportive home environment that meets their children’s needs. We used Triple P (Positive Parenting Programme), which enabled us to evidence our outcomes. Triple P reduces problem behaviour in children and improves parents’ wellbeing and parenting skills.
The Triple P Programme is recognised as an effective evidence-based parenting programme backed up by more than 30 years of ongoing research. It gives parents simple and practical strategies to help them confidently manage their children’s behaviour, prevent problems developing and build strong, healthy relationships.
The other programme we used is the Gateway group programme. This programme is built on the principle of respect and empowerment while raising awareness of the impact and dynamics of controlling relationships.
This programme aims to raise awareness of domestic abuse within an accredited risk managed programme, encouraging safer and informed choices for the future.
Pre and post assessments were completed for the Triple P programme and outcomes demonstrated included; increased confidence, skill and knowledge about raising children, more positive interactions with their children, less depression or anxiety, less couple conflict over parenting issues and improved behaviour with 82% of families to date reporting an improvement in their levels of stress.
For our Gateway programme, we aimed to reduce isolation, self-blame, denial and minimization, raise awareness of domestic abuse, increase understanding of the impact of domestic abuse on parenting skills and children’s lives and increase confidence.
